on Aug 24, 2009Food acts as a fuel for our body. Nutrients of the food give our body cells the energy they need to work. But it is possible only if food is digested properly, so that body can get benefit from it. Almost all animals have the digestive system in which food enters the mouth pass through the long tube useful part is digested and extra material get out from body as feces. It will not be wrong to say that digestive system acts as a governor of our health. If the food we use to eat do not get properly digest. The energy in that food does not benefit our body no matter how useful they are to man health. Digestion can be defined as a process of getting energy from food and providing it to body. The energy from the food we take comes in the form of carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins, oil etc. All these are very important for good functionality of human body. Human digestive system is composed of different parts with their own function and importance. It will be not wrong saying that digestion is a complex process. The opposite of digestion is Indigestion. Indigestion is the process in which the body fails to get the energy from food. Food having high minerals and quality helps in proper working of digestive system. Where the food with low quality causes indigestion. The liver plays very important role in the digestion of food. The human liver together with the bile produce hydrochloric acid and other enzymes for proper digestion of the food. These enzymes work as a medium to bring chemical reaction in the body. It is that chemical reaction which breaks up the food in simple form in order to extract energy from them. Raw food is very useful for health it has enzymes in it. When the food is over cooked it lost all useful enzymes. In that case the body depends on liver to produce enzymes. Poor quality of food does not have enzymes even if they are taken in raw form. In that case the enzymes from liver in capsule form are the source of energy for body. |
