Crickets dig their burrows with the openings towards the Sun but carefully concealed in the grass. On sunny days crickets love to sit by these openings and enjoy the sunshine whenever they are not looking for something to eat.

The wasp is the cricket’s most feared enemy. Wasps often come down suddenly and without warning when the cricket is sunning itself. After a brief struggle the wasp usually succeeds in overcoming the cricket which it then paralyzes with several blows of its sting.

Once the cricket is paralyzed the wasp uses its little hooked claws to drag its victim back to its nest where the cricket will become a valuable source of food for the whole community of wasps.
