The political system in which people choose or replace their government through free and fair election, & they are allowed to actively participate in political and civic life is called democratic system. In democracy Law rule and it is applied equally to all citizens. In democracy it is people who decide who will present them in parliament. People have freedom to criticize their leader. In this system the power flows from people to government. Representative is bound to listen to the people at national and local level and have to respond to their needs. In democracy elections are held at regular interval as prescribed by law. Parties have the freedom to campaign freely. They are allowed to present their proposal to voters either direct or through mass media. In democratic system voters can vote in secret. Independent observers are set to ensure election system free of corruption and fraud.

In democratic system the supreme power is vested in people. Therefore People play very important role in democracy. Because they are the one who choose the government. And their decision affects the overall political system. In democracy the government is afraid of the people it is therefore very important duty of the citizen to use their freedom in proper way. For proper democracy Citizen must participate in public life. They must keep careful check on how the political parties and leaders use their power. They should express their own point of view. They should vote in election as it is their important civic duty. And the more important thing is to vote wisely. They should listen the views of all parties and then they should make a decision. People should actively participate in civic societies. And this participation should be voluntary not by forced. The important foundation of the democracy is the political parties and democracy gets strong when citizen became member of these political parties. They should be well informed about the public issues and should not hesitate from presenting those issues. Sometime people misunderstand the democracy. They think of it as if everything is literally allowed in this system. And this result in opposite effect on the purpose of democracy. Therefore it is very important that freedom should be used in positive way. Although democracy is all about the participation of the citizens but the important fact is that this participation should be peaceful and respectful of Law.
