Color blindness is not a form of blindness at all. It is a condition in which people face difficulty in identifying colors. Our eye is familiar with more than 8 million shades. But the ability to differentiate among the colors starts with the three primary colors of light: red, green, and blue. Like a person can get the brown shade by blending red & green, means the eye sees a range of colors by mingling primary colors. But in color blindness a person cannot differentiation between different shade like red, green & blue & yellow. And in some cases; they cannot even identify the colors at all. Mostly color blindness is inherited. However color blindness can also be caused by a spot on the retina which create hurdle in identifying color or it might be result of the side effects of medication.

Color blindness can be divided into two main categories Red-green color deficiency & Blue & yellow deficiency. Red & green color deficiency is found mostly and its ratio is more in male while Blue & yellow is found very rarely and its ration is equal both in male & female.

It is not necessary that people who are color blind cannot see any color at all. There are just certain colors that they see different or less pronounced then the person with normal vision.

Color blindness occurs when light-sensitive cells in the retina fail to respond properly to deviation in wavelengths of light that enable us to see assortment of colors. This disease is found more in male as compared to female. There is a light sensitive cell found in retina called Photoreceptors. Photoreceptors in human eye are classified in Rods & Cones. Rods enhance the vision in Low light & Cones control color vision .A person having color blindness might be having deficiency in certain type of cones or absence of cones.

Color blindness cannot be cured, except the Color blindness caused by disease or medication side effects can sometimes be treated. While inherited color blind patient can adopt some manageable strategies may helps to function better Like Some people use special lenses to enhance color view, which are filters available in either contact lens or eyeglass lens form. A color blind person faces many problems in life but these problems can be curtail to some extent by organizing things for their own understanding. For example they can tag their cloths for their colors to avoid confusion.
