A mole is also called melanocytic naevus. A mole is basically the abnormal collection of the pigment cells within the skin. These pigment cells are grouped in cluster instead of growing in dispersed pattern. These pigments are called melanocytes. Mostly people are born with moles on their skin. While other have them during their lives. Moles are formed because of the harmless proliferation of the pigment cells under the skin layer. Moles can also appear due to exposure to the sunlight. It is formed on that part of the skin which catches more sunlight. Moles mostly appear in the first 20 years of the life. Majority moles disappear with age. Mostly moles are harmless but sometimes small number may go on which result in skin cancer called malignant melanoma. More than 25 moles are the indication of the melanoma. If one feel itching in the mole, or if its size is increasing, its shape is getting irregular, or mole is changing color, or if it is spontaneously bleeding, Then one should rush to the doctor as they all might be the symptoms of susceptibility of melanoma.

There are three types of Moles.
Dysplastic Mole
Blue Mole
Halo Naevi

Dysplastic neavus syndromes are the large size mole. These moles have an irregular outline. A Person having these types of mole have a high risk of malignant melanoma. These types of moles mostly appear on those who have a history of the malignant melanoma. The mole which is blue in color is called Blue naevus. Blue naevus is common in West Indian infants. If the skin surrounding the mole becomes lighter and the center mole become pale. Such moles are called Halo naevi.

Some moles disappear on its own. While sometime one has to visit doctor to get rid of them. Doctors cut off the moles and stich the place. Sometimes moles are freeze by applying liquid nitrogen and then it is shave off by scalpel. Laser rays are also used to burn the mole. There are few homeopathic and organic tropical products which help in removing mole. One should avoid going out in the sunlight especially the direct exposure to the sunlight.
