The rose of Jericho, or resurrection plant, is a shrub consisting of several branches that lie on the ground to support the plant. These branches produce small leaves and flowers. When the burning desert Sun dries up all traces of moisture, the branches of the rose of Jericho roll up into a ball to protect the small fruit that contains the seeds.

When the rain returns the rose of Jericho unrolls its branches and scatters its seeds which are then ready to produce new plants.
