The buffalo likes to make its home in marshy places where it loves to roll in the mud and stay there for hours at a time. It does this for a very good reason: the mud dries into a hard crust all over the buffalo’s skin and acts as a shield against the sting of insects and burning rays of the Sun. This muddy protection allows the buffalo to live in the unhealthy atmosphere of marshes and swamps where no other type of cattle could survive.

The buffalo needs complete freedom. It could never work as a draft animal or live in barn like domestic cattle.
