The origins of the Etruscan language are wrapped in mystery. The Etruscans have left thousands of examples of their writings but most of them are brief inscriptions on their tombs. There have been a few other texts found which were longer and were probably prayers. One of these was discovered on the wrappings of a mummy found in Egypt.
