Is it a boon or a bane for the environment and health?

on May 18, 2009Both actually. On one hand several crops are produced by genetically engineered seeds. Wheat, potatoes and cotton being the prime example. At the same time they are made resistant to pests, allow them to give more yield per acre, tolerant to pesticides etc. They can also cause allergies in some people. Make them resistant to antibiotics. Dangers of cross-pollinations and the results are also not clear at the moment. |
