How to Tint Car Windows
Tinting car windows is a relatively difficult job, it does not need to be done professionally but if you want to do it yourself you'll need to be confident of your skill level.
What you will need:
* * Some precision cutting skill
* * Heat guns (or blow dyers)
* * Sponges
* * Razor blades
* * Bone tools
* * Squeegees
* * Window tinting film
* * Spray bottles
* * Dishwashing liquid/soap
* * Utility knife or "X-Acto" knife See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-acto
Step by step guide:
Make a mixture of dishwashing soap and water and fill a spray bottle with it.
Very carefully cut the window tinting film to the right shape for your windows.
Set the cut out film shapes onto a glass board.
Start spraying the mixture in the spray bottle onto the side window.
Next, use one of the razors to scrape off any residue from the windows, make sure there is no residue left by using the squeegee.
Place the tinted film cutout onto the window. It is very important that you leave about 1/4 inch (0.6-0.7 cm) untinted at the top of the window.
Using the bone tool you next should push the tinted film under the window seals.
Now you have to remove any moisture that might be trapped between the tint and glass. Use the heat gun to heat the top of the window, at the same time use a squeegee on the other side of the window. Rub the tint horizontally as you heat the other side of the window.
Start again, from step two, except on your windshield.
Now for the rear window. This time, do not use the razor blade! The black lines (i.e. the defroster) will be scraped off if you do.
Cut enough strips of window tint film to place in between the defroster lines on the rear window.
Start by placing the first panel at the bottom, then work upwards.
