Its not that hard you need the following:

16 oz Chickpeas (they should be soaked for 12 hours, not strictly necessary but I do it)
1 x red chilli
1 x garlic clove
4 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons Olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
and yes, you do need tahini! I use about 1.5 tablespoons (you can use sesame seed paste if you want).

So to make the humous, I usually do the following:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender.

  2. When they are really mixed up and the consistency is nice and smooth, place in a bowl then drop some olive oil in there.

Easy! You can be really creative with humous and add all sorts of things to give different tastes.

Some ideas:

  • Red Peppers

  • More chilli

  • Onions

  • Paprika
