I am very lean and tall and people give me strange looks. What can I do to gain weight?

Due to high prevalence of the overweight problem in the culture, more emphasis is laid on weight loosing rather then weigh gain. Being under weight may be result of the eating disorder or chronic disease. Some people are naturally thin. Some people become underweight in old age. This result in slow loss taste and smell of food. Weight loss without any reason is not sign of good health. We all know that being overweight result in increase of risk factor of having chronic disease. Just same is in the case of under weight, It increase the risk of dying from disease like heart failure and cancer. Females who are underweight may become frail and are more likely to suffer from osteoporosis and hip fractures.



Some people increase intake of junk food to gain weight this is very wrong. Junk foods contain unsaturated fats which are not good for health. Although for weight gains calories are required. But those calories should come from good source of food. Fats which help in gaining wait include Omega-3 important fatty acids like walnuts, tuna, flax, and salmon. For weight gain carbohydrates and proteins are also required. Good source of proteins are meat, fish, poultry and nuts. While good source of carbohydrates are fruits, vegetables and grains. For weight gains it is good if one take five or six small but balanced meal instead of taking three large meals in a day. Protein powders and supplement drinks play vital role in weigh gain. To increase the ratio of calories one can take snacks between meals. Some high quality multivitamin and mineral supplements are also available in market for weigh gain. Exercises are not only just for loosing stomach but they are also essential for healthy weight gains. So exercise should be included in routine. For healthy weight gain one should include such meal in its diet which not only adds to calories but also to nutrition. First under weight person should find out how much calories they need through calories and nutrition guide. One should use food dairy to keep record of the calories intake.
