on Jul 24, 2009In Papua and the surrounding islands the people still use a sea going craft which is made of three or more canoes joined together by strong pieces of timber. The individual boats form a single vessel on which a strong bamboo deck is placed. There are two masts in the middle, very close to each other, and from these are hoisted rather strange looking sails that resemble the claws of a lobster. |
