Field hockey or Ice Hockey? Well for field hockey the match has two halves each of 35 minutes duration. In case of a tie, the rules are not really laid down. Usually its two halves of 7.5 minutes each after regular time. This usually follow the golden goal rule (the team who scores wins). If the extra time again ends in a tie, the match is decided on penalty strokes until a winner is crowned. The strokes are 5 each at first, then they too follow sudden death.
